Ordinance 2025-06-09-01 Modification of Legal Nonconforming Structures
The Village Board approved ordinance 2025-06-09-01, creating exception for modification of legal nonconforming structures between the shoreline buffer zone and between the shoreline buffer zone and nearest point of principal structure or projection thereof. Ordinance 2025-06-09-01
“6.5(4)(a)(i)(A) A legal nonconforming structure located within the shoreline buffer zone may be modified, during its lifetime so long as such modification does not increase the footprint, living area or height of the structure, as provided in Section 6.7(4)(b) below; and”
“6.5(6)(a)(i)(B) A legal nonconforming structure located between the shoreline buffer zone and the nearest point of the principal structure or any projection thereof may be modified, during its lifetime so long as such modification does not increase the footprint, living area or height of the structure, as provided in Section 6.7(4)(b) below; and”

Roof Repair
The Village of Chenequa has contracted to repair the Village Hall Roof.
Construction is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 10th and continue through the next week. The parking lot will NOT be open and available for parking from
Tuesday, June 10th, through Monday, June 16th.
This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather. Updates will be available on the Village website, as necessary https://chenequa.org/
Visitors of the Village Hall / Police Department may park on Hwy K in front of the Village Hall and utilize the stairs to the Village Hall entrance. The DPW parking lot is also available for Visitors during construction.
The Village Hall Office Hours are Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Pine Lake Launch Hours and Fees

Remember the public boat access facility located on Pine Lake in the Village shall be open from 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., except on the general fishing opening weekend when the facility shall be open on that first Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 A.M. to midnight. No boat or equipment incident to navigation may be launched during a time the facility is not open, but a boat on the lake at the applicable closing time may be retrieved from the lake after such closing time and a vehicle in the designated parking area at such closing time may remain there until the boat transported by such vehicle is retrieved.

Wisconsin boating safety certification or out-of-state equivalent certification is required for operators born on or after January 1, 1989. Anyone is eligible to take the class and receive a safety education completion certificate, however, courses are designed at a 5th-grade level or up.

The Village of Chenequa Proclaims Friday, April 25, 2025, as Arbor Day.
REVALUATION NOTICE
A revaluation of property assessments in the Village of Chenequa shall occur for the 2025 assessment year. Revaluation notices are expected to be sent to property owners in June 2025. Please also notice that the Assessor has certain statutory authority to enter land as described in Sections 943.13 and 943.15, Wisconsin Statutes.
Wakeboating Guidelines
The Lake Management Committee proposes 10 voluntary guidelines for wakeboating on Pine Lake. These would be distributed via PLYC, Windword, PLSS, Chenequa boating education classes, Village website and posted at the landing with a depth and weed map (attached). Additional recommendation of survey/boat log of boat type by officer on duty at landing Thursday to Sun to assess off-lake wakeboat pressure. This will help focus educational efforts on residents and off- lake wakeboats.
- Deep water runs only in greater than 20 feet of water. Stay out of all shallow bays. Surf, board and empty ballast in deep water only so as to not disturb sediment.
- You must be 200 feet from shore, pier or moored boat.
- When passing between shore and the island stay in the middle on either side.
- Stay as far away from piers as you can, turn your wake away from closest piers.
- Stay out of all weed beds. Slow-no-wake if you must land through a weed bed.
- Maintain full visibility ahead with help of a spotter if need be re swimmers, kayakers and SUPs.
- When the lake is busy, wait your turn. Spaced sequential runs are better than parallel runs to avoid wave addition or amplification impacting our shoreline. Common boating courtesy should prevail.
- Respect our sailors: avoid all sailboats, sailing classes, sailboat races and regattas in session. Sailboats have right-of-way.
- Keep your music volume down.
- All State of WI/Chenequa boating ordinances apply to you and will be enforced.
