Starry Stonewort Discovered in Pine Lake

The Village has been informed that Starry Stonewort, a new non-native aquatic invasive species, has been detected in Pine Lake (see map below).  While the impact of this species can vary from lake to lake, it is currently unclear how it may affect Pine Lake’s ecosystem, recreation, or water quality.

The Village and its partners are actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Residents can help prevent the spread of Starry Stonewort by cleaning, draining, and drying all watercraft and equipment before entering or leaving  the lake.

For more information including how to identify Starry Stonewort and steps you can take to protect Pine Lake, please visit the DNR Website

If you have questions or wish to report a sighting, please contact the Village.  Thank you for your cooperation and continued commitment to preserving the health of Pine Lake.
